Swenson's

Swenson’s, an iconic drive-up car service restaurant, was founded in 1934 by Westly Swenson in Akron, Ohio. Upon arriving at Swenson’s, you turn on your car headlights and wait for the curbside server to take your order for a fun and memorable dining experience. In fact, Akron’s favorite son, LeBron James, is known to consider the famous “Galley Boy” as his favorite cheeseburger! In 2017, Swenson’s chose to go on an aggressive growth pattern. Fred Olivieri Construction, a fast-food restaurant contractor, was selected to build the first three prototype stores in northeast Ohio. Their goal was to keep the traditional 1950’s drive-up car service concept, incorporating some necessary modern upgrades. These “kitchen only” locations with large parking areas were quite the challenge, but our team was up to the task, and these restaurants turned out wonderfully. Of the current 20 Swenson’s Drive-In restaurants, Fred Olivieri Construction has built 9 of them with new design concepts.
