Timken Gatehouse
Henry H. Timken established the Timken Mansion Estate after relocating his highly successful company, The Timken Company, to Canton, Ohio. Following his passing, the estate came under the stewardship of the Timken Foundation, which generously donated the mansion and its 30.8-acre grounds to Mercy Hospital in 1950.
The Timken Gatehouse, originally serving as the formal entrance to the estate, remains a lasting and significant historical landmark. Though much of the original estate has changed over time, the Gatehouse endures as a tangible link to Canton's industrial legacy.
Fred Olivieri Construction was contracted for the historic preservation with a modern repurpose of the Henry H. Timken estate gatehouse. The stone gatehouse was thoughtfully renovated to celebrate its historic character while creating new community value.
We constructed a newly added outdoor patio for small gatherings and events and modernized the interior for events to take place inside. We introduced a catering kitchenette and a warming kitchen, along with new accessible interior and exterior restrooms, as well as an accessible patio to enhance comfort and inclusivity for all guests. We also upgraded the building to an all-electric system to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
